In order to secure our U.S ports of entry against acts of terrorism, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requires cargo information to be submitted during a required timeframe before the cargo leaves the country of export for shipment towards the United States (24 hrs before).
This additional information is known as the Importer Security Filing (ISF), and it requires importers to provide 10 essential data elements to Customs and Border Protection (CBP), plus 2 extra elements from the carrier. The information required is as follows:
- Manufacturer/supplier name and address
- Seller/Owner name and address
- Buyer/ Owner name and address
- Ship to name and address
- Container stuffing location
- Consolidator name and address
- Importer of record
- Number foreign trade zone applican tID number
- Consignee number
- Country of origin
- Commodity Harmonized Tariff Schedule Number
